POSITION SUMMARY

The Assistant Channel Marketing Manager is responsible for planning, directing and coordinating the marketing of the company’s products and services to meet the company’s objectives in the US Asian Channel (retail, foodservice and industrial).  

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Assist Senior Channel Marketing Manager to develop and execute marketing plans and programs (including trade programs), both short and long range, to ensure the profit growth and expansion of company products.
  • Assess market competition by comparing the company's product to competitors' products.
  • Provide source data for product line communications by defining product marketing communication objectives.
  • Obtain product market share by working with sales director to develop product sales strategies.
  • Provide information for management by preparing short-term and long-term product sales forecasts and special reports and analyses; answering questions and requests.
  • Facilitate inventory turnover and product availability by reviewing and adjusting inventory levels and forecast.
  • Bring new products to market by analyzing proposed product requirements and product development programs.
  • Introduce and market new products by developing time-integrated plans with sales, advertising, and production.
  • Determine product pricing and position by utilizing market research data. Review production and sales costs. Anticipate volume.
  • Prepare new product launch plan and timeline. Also present the summary to internal and external parties.
  • Work with sales team to plan and execute the new product launch plan and plan through the inventory by territory.
  • Manage and implement marketing and trade marketing activities of the product launch and promotion.
  • Track competitive performance, pricing and trends and present findings to team on a monthly basis.
  • Manage, allocate and distribute aging products and samples.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, SKILLS and EXPERIENCE

  • This position requires a Bachelor's degree (B. A.) and 2 years of related experience and/or training.
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. 
  • Successful candidate must be able to work as part of a team under high pressure with minimal supervision. 
  • Ability to travel locally as needed.  Prior food industry experience and knowledge of SAP is a plus.    

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • The individual must possess excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills in both English and Chinese.
  • The individual must have the ability to work independently in cross-functional teams to achieve goals.  

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

  • The individual must be able to apply mathematical concepts such as probabilities and statistical inference to forecast annual sales and budget. 
  • The individual must apply fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • The individual must have the ability to define problems, apply concrete sales principles through data gathering and analysis, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. 
  • The individual must be able to interpret an extensive variety of technical sales instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with a verity of abstract and concrete variables. 

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers (computer keyboard use, cell phone use, office equipment use).
  • Employee is required to stand, sit, kneel, and walk when performing this job (visits to customer sites, to users, traveling in vehicles).
  • Occasional lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds may be necessary (moving products or samples). 

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • The noise level in the work environment is light to moderate. 
  • The position is often in an office setting, traveling or at customer/user sites (restaurants, wholesalers, distributors, etc.).  
  • The position requires some travel – about 10% of the time this position is expected to be out of the office.
