Lee Kum Kee Named as The Protection Unit of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Guangdong Province to Preserving and Promoting Century-old Oyster Sauce Craftsmanship

Oyster Sauce Craftsmanship was inscribed on the Intangible Cultural Heritage List of Guangdong Province in 2022. 

 

On 6 December, the Department of Culture and Tourism of Guangdong Province announced the list of protection units for the eighth batch of the Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Guangdong Province. Lee Kum Kee was named the protection unit of Oyster Sauce Craftsmanship, which was inscribed on the Intangible Cultural Heritage List of Guangdong Province in May this year. To protect this traditional craftsmanship, Lee Kum Kee will continue to promote the oyster sauce culture and Chinese culinary culture worldwide.

After over 130 years of development, Lee Kum Kee's oyster sauce making technique has evolved into its unique craftsmanship, including oyster farming, oyster selection and shucking, cooking and secret recipe.
