Lee Kum Kee Group Chairman Mr. Lee Man Tat was honoured the “Outstanding Achievement Award” at the 32nd Anniversary cum Century Food Brand Awards Presentation Ceremony by the Hong Kong Food Council on 15 March. At the same occasion, Lee Kum Kee was also named “Classic Century Food Brand”. The awards recognise the outstanding achievements of Lee Kum Kee, which has become a globally-renowned ethnic Chinese enterprise under the leadership of Mr. Lee Man Tat.

Mr. Lee Man Tat is the first entrepreneur to be conferred the Outstanding Achievement Award launched by the Hong Kong Food Council. Mr. Kenneth Chan, President of the Hong Kong Food Council, said, “Mr. Lee Man Tat is a man of immense vision and innovation. He has led Lee Kum Kee for the past 40 years through continuous effort, creativity, dedication as well as well-planned succession management, to its position today as one of the world’s most revered enterprises with over a hundred years of history.”

The “Classic Century Food Brand” represents excellence in product leadership around five criteria: years of establishment, brand awareness (Hong Kong, mainland China and worldwide), product distinctiveness, quality and corporate image. The award aims to provide a platform for local food manufacturers and operators to strengthen their brands.

Lee Kum Kee was established in 1888 when Mr. Lee Kum Sheung, the grandfather of Mr. Lee Man Tat, invented oyster sauce. In 1972, Mr. Lee Man Tat became Chairman of Lee Kum Kee. Since then, he has been focusing on innovating products, stringent quality control and creative marketing strategy and has successfully transformed the company from a small workshop to a globally-renowned sauce brand.

Mr. Lee Man Tat said, “It is with great pleasure and honour to receive the Outstanding Achievement Award and Classic Century Brand Award from the Hong Kong Food Council.
