When I joined Lee Kum Kee, I was a newbie so I just learned by doing. In those days, there were only 20 colleagues working at the Lee Kum Kee’s shops at Queen’s Road Central and Kwan Yick Street. Everyone strived hard from raw material preparation, production, packaging to delivery. Up till now, I had worked at Lee Kum Kee for 45 years. I am impressed by how the Company grew and thrived to become a multinational enterprise with more than 5,000 staff worldwide.

I started as a general staff and moved up the career ladder to the management level over the years. I understand the importance of teamwork: As a team leader, no matter how smart you are, you need to motivate your subordinates to work together for achieving success. I thereby adhere to our core value of “Si Li Ji Ren” (Considering Others’ Interests) to care about my team’s feelings and discuss with them on crucial matters. Corporate culture forms important guiding principles for all staff. We will be working effectively and efficiently should we practise Lee Kum Kee’s core values.

Though I have been taking up job duties in the same area over the years, every day is a new day to me. I make decisions by taking into account the Company’s interests.  For those who would like to join Lee Kum Kee, my advice is to “do the job well” rather than “get the job done”. Considering others’ interests when you need to make a decision. This is how you will really immerse into Lee Kum Kee’s corporate culture.

I would pick the tube packaging of Premium Oyster Sauce to describe myself – just like the soft and bendable characteristics of the tube, I am flexible and resilient at work. One has to make adjustment responsively to overcome obstacles.
