I joined Lee Kum Kee in 2005 as an IT executive and I am now an IT Manager responsible for devising IT strategies and providing support for Lee Kum Kee’s operations in South Asia. Although I am based in Malaysia, I also support colleagues in other South Asian countries such as Singapore. Since I am the only IT team member in South Asia, I often work with the Hong Kong headquarters to implement IT strategies locally.
It is sometimes quite challenging when we implement new projects. It is difficult for me to source local service providers that are able to meet global standards. Then, we all will work together to ensure a smooth implementation of the project. Very often, issues were resolved as a result of discussion and collaboration across teams from different regions. As a famous basketball player once said, “Talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence win championships.”
My most memorable experience in Lee Kum Kee is my involvement in an enhancement project for one of the current systems. During the process, the Malaysia IT team and the global project team faced many challenges and the project was delayed a bit. At that time, I didn’t have much knowledge about that system, so it was difficult for me to handle the whole enhancement project alone. With full support and guidance from the Project Manager and team members, we successfully implemented the enhancement in the end. To me, this cross-team collaboration demonstrated Lee Kum Kee’s core value of “Si Li Ji Ren” – We put ourselves in others’ shoes and work together towards achieving the best result. I am very proud to be part of the Lee Kum Kee team.
I would pick Premium Oyster Sauce to describe my career in Lee Kum Kee. This prestigious product is the best-selling product in the Malaysia market and the best oyster in the eyes of customers. I would like my colleagues to recognize that I work hard to provide the best support for them.
