Lee Kum Kee Group Chairman Mr. Lee Man Tat Honoured with DHL/SCMP Hong Kong Business Awards 2018—Lifetime Achievement Award

On 6 December, Lee Kum Kee Group Chairman Mr. Lee Man Tat was honoured with the “DHL/SCMP Hong Kong Business Awards 2018—Lifetime Achievement Award” in recognition of his remarkable achievements in business and community.
During the Award Presentation Ceremony, Lee Kum Kee Sauce Group Chairman Mr. Charlie Lee received the award on behalf of Mr. Lee Man Tat and expressed his heartfelt gratitude to DHL/SCMP for granting the prestigious award to his father, Mr. Lee Man Tat. He expressed that as Lee Kum Kee celebrates its 130th Anniversary, the Award was a due recognition of the immense contributions of
Mr. Lee Man Tat to perpetuate the century-old legacy of Lee Kum Kee and grow the family business from a humble beginning to what it is today. He also took the opportunity to thank all Lee Kum Kee staff for their salutary dedication and perseverance, as well as consumers and business partners for their trust and support.
Mr. Lee Man Tat joined Lee Kum Kee in 1954 to assist his father Mr. Lee Shiu Nan to run the family business. In 1972, he took over the helm as Chairman, thus starting a new chapter in the history of Lee Kum Kee. The Company has transformed from a small workshop with only a handful of staff into a multinational enterprise with its products selling well across the world.
With Mr. Lee Man Tat’s perseverance, determination, business acumen and hard work, Lee Kum Kee soars high in the world. The Company never compromises on quality by closely adhering to its stringent quality management philosophy of “100-1=0” to offer safe and top quality sauces and condiments to consumers globally. In addition, Lee Kum Kee endeavours to promote Chinese culinary culture worldwide.
In full manifestation of Lee Kum Kee’s core value of “Si Li Ji Ren” (Considering Others’ Interests), Mr. Lee Man Tat is fervent in contributing to the community. He has made donations to build the Lee Man Tat Bridge and the Infinitus Bridge in Qibao, Xinhui to ease the local traffic congestion, and spares no effort to relieve poverty and support educational causes to nurture talents in China.
The Hong Kong Business Awards was established by DHL/SCMP in 1990. For over 20 years, it honours individuals and companies that maintain and expand the economic viability and international stature in Hong Kong and the Pearl River Delta. The Lifetime Achievement Award is granted at the discretion of the judging panel in any particular judging year if they feel an individual shows sufficient merit to warrant it. Only seven distinguished community leaders have been granted this honour so far.
