Lee Kum Kee Exhibits at Inaugural China International Import Expo

The inaugural China International Import Expo (CIIE), hosted by the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China and the Shanghai Municipal People’s Government, officially opened at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai) yesterday. Lee Kum Kee, as a renowned Chinese sauce brand with 130 years of history, exhibits at the Hong Kong Product Zone, which converges local famous food brands to promote Chinese flavours to the world. Mrs. Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) visited Lee Kum Kee’s booth during the Expo. 

This year marks the 130th Anniversary of Lee Kum Kee. Oyster Sauce, the legendary classic product of Lee Kum Kee, is the theme of its booth to showcase its premium products and brand philosophy to the government officials, industry professionals and representatives of the global organisations from some 150 countries and regions to promote Chinese food culture worldwide. 

"In 1888, Mr. Lee Kum Sheung, the founder of Lee Kum Kee, invented oyster sauce in Nanshui, Zhuhai, Guangdong, and established Lee Kum Kee," said Mr. Dodie Hung, Executive Vice President-Corporate Affairs of Lee Kum Kee Sauce Group. "Lee Kum Kee's Oyster Sauce products have been exported overseas, including the European and American markets, since the 1920s. For the past 130 years, Lee Kum Kee has been loved by the consumers from around the world and have garnered the title of the world's No.1 oyster sauce brand for 11 consecutive years*. This year is the 40th Anniversary of China’s reform and opening-up. Our motherland’s ‘Belt and Road’ initiative presents immense opportunities for Lee Kum Kee. We are very honoured to have participated in the inaugural China International Import Expo, which serves as an international platform for promoting Chinese cuisines to the world with our sauces.”

The six-day expo commenced yesterday till 10 November. Lee Kum Kee's booth is located inside the Hong Kong Product Zone at Hall 8.2 (Booth no.: 8.2A3-03 (022)) of the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai). A diverse range of oyster sauce products are displayed at the booth, including the signature Lee Kum Kee Premium Oyster Sauce, Panda Brand Oyster Sauce popular in the overseas markets and Choy Sun Oyster Sauce, a favourite item in the Chinese market. In addition, the mascot “Lee Kum Kee Panda” is set to visit the Expo and interact with the visitors.

Organised by the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China and the Shanghai Municipal People’s Government, with the World Trade Organization, United Nations Conference on Trade and Development and United Nations Industrial Development Organization as the organising partners, the CIIE is the world’s first national-level expo set up with imports as the theme, aiming at opening up new channels in which trade collaborations and economic exchanges are fostered among countries and regions worldwide. Over 3,000 enterprises from some 130 countries and regions have participated in the Expo.
