Lee Kum Kee has emerged as winner of the prestigious ‘Hong Kong ESG Grand Award’ at the first-ever Hong Kong ESG Awards organised by the Chinese Manufacturers’ Association of Hong Kong (CMA). The honour recognises outstanding contributions in the industry, social responsibility, employee welfare and environmental protection, and affirms Lee Kum Kee’s longstanding commitment to promoting and practicing environmental, social and governance (ESG) principles.

Lee Kum Kee’s trusted brand is built on its dedication to providing a wide range of high-quality sauces and condiments to customers. The company abides by a quality management philosophy of ‘100-1=0’ to ensure food safety. At the same time, Lee Kum Kee’s sustainable manufacturing and industrial practices have led it to become a pioneer of green production. It is also ‘people-centric’, maintaining an open, fair, safe and healthy work environment for employees. Lee Kum Kee gives back to the community by encouraging employees to participate in a variety of charity and donation activities.

Mr Dodie Hung, Lee Kum Kee’s Executive Vice President – Corporate Affairs, explains: “Our commitment to providing consumers with high-quality sauce products and emphasis on ESG are integral to our core value of “Si Li Ji Ren” (Considering Others’ Interests).

“For example, our Xinhui production base in Jiangmen, Guangdong, has implemented a comprehensive energy-saving and environmental protection strategy, utilising technologies such as solar photovoltaic power generation, geothermal heat pumps, a man-made wetland park, greywater recycling and biogas power generation to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. We also hope to inspire other companies in the industry to pursue green operations.”

The CMA launched the Hong Kong ESG Awards this year to recognise organisations with outstanding achievements in ESG performance. The awards aim to inspire industries to implement sustainable development initiatives and make positive impacts on the economy, society and the environment.
