Lee Kum Kee Sponsors “Neighbourhood First” Programme

Lee Kum Kee has supported "Neighbourhood First" community programme of the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups (HKFYG) for four consecutive years.

The Lee Kum Kee Hope as Chef Charitable Foundation provided sponsorship to the "Neighbourhood First, Healthy Path for All" programme. From June 2022, the programme recruited over 30 young volunteers and offered them professional classes to learn about nutrition, cooking and weight management as well as how to utilise simple ingredients and Lee Kum Kee sauces and condiments to make nutritious dishes. Besides, useful information about nutrition and healthy lifestyle was also given to the participants, encouraging them to become "All-Round Health Ambassadors". The young people then paired up with 18 children and their parents from low-income families and shared with them tips of nutritious diet and cooking methods, motivating each other to develop a healthier life. The youth also collected fresh leftover vegetables from the caring store owners in the community and prepared recipes. The repacked ingredients were then given out to the low-income families together with applicable Lee Kum Kee sauces.

In the closing ceremony in February, participants shared their takeaways from the eight-month programme. Apart from improving their cooking skills and forming healthy living habits, they even succeeded in building a stronger body. Youngsters were also given the chance to uphold the spirit of Benefitting the Community by reaching out to families in need and spreading knowledge on healthy lifestyle. To encourage participants to continue their pursuit of healthy diet, Lee Kum Kee chefs were invited to show how to make chicken dumplings with vegetables at the event.

In January 2023, Lee Kum Kee donated sauce products to support HKFYG’s “Reunion Dinner" initiative. Young volunteers visited over a thousand of low-income families and elderly people in Hong Kong, and delivered food packs with Lee Kum Kee Premium Oyster Sauce to show love and care to the beneficiaries.

Mr. Dodie Hung, Executive Vice President of Corporate Affairs, Lee Kum Kee Sauce Group, said, “The Lee Kum Kee Hope as Chef Charitable Foundation aspires to further realise Lee Kum Kee Sauce Group’s mission of ‘Promoting Chinese Culinary Culture Worldwide’ by nurturing culinary talent. We were pleased to support the ‘Neighbourhood First’ programme again, which allows young people to acquire knowledge about building a nutritious and healthy lifestyle, form a closer bond with their neighbours using tasty food, as well as give back to the community.”
